How Stillpoint Spaces works

Stillpoint Spaces members offer counseling, coaching, analysis and therapy. Members of the Stillpoint community are highly trained professionals delivering individualized approaches. Clients are able to access Stillpoint through one of our physical spaces in Berlin, Zürich and London or to decide to meet with a counselor online or in his or her practice.

How long does a session last?

Each session lasts at least between 50-60 minutes. For online sessions, they open ten minutes before the scheduled time and you can log in to be ready when your counselor, coach, analyst or therapist comes online. In our physical spaces and at local practices the time for a session is decided by each individual counselor.

Who are the counselors, coaches, analysts and therapists at Stillpoint?

Stillpoint has carefully selected a widely diverse group of highly skilled and ethical counselors, coaches, analysts and therapists from around the world, all with a depth-oriented approach to working with clients, and representing a wide-variety of languages and cultures. They are either fully qualified mental health professionals or in the final stages of a relevant advanced training, or both. Each counselor brings individualized skills, training, and unique strengths to Stillpoint and operates under our guiding principles of ethical and quality care.

Who is Stillpoint Spaces for?

Counseling, coaching, analysis or therapy offered through Stillpoint is for individuals who want to gain deeper insight into their own thoughts and beliefs to enhance functioning or to work through challenges. Such insight can lead to profoundly positive outcomes, whether at work, in relationships or in life satisfaction. Only trained professionals are allowed to practice through Stillpoint.

What happens in a session?

Counselors, coaches, analysts and therapists at Stillpoint are motivated by a desire to help individuals find authenticity and meaning in their lives. Although each professional has a different working style, there is a common focus on the deeper aspects of one’s motivations, in other words on discovering new perspectives through exploration of thoughts, feelings and images, including those outside of immediate awareness. A session generally starts with clients sharing their concerns. Questions are then explored to encourage the client’s self-reflection and ultimately, an unfolding self-discovery journey.

How many sessions do I need?

Counseling, coaching, analysis and therapy involve processes that take time to unfold. Usually, a minimum of 5 to 10 sessions is needed to gain a new level of clarity around a particular issue, generally more for a deeper exploration. Once you have a feeling for a working connection with your counselor, coach, analyst or therapist, we recommend that you consider engaging in a series of sessions. Over time, and with input from their counselor, clients can sense the frequency and number of sessions that fit with the stage of their personal process.

How is depth-oriented work on Stillpoint different from standard psychotherapy?

At Stillpoint, we recognize that the human condition includes questions that resonate to the depths of our being. In these challenges is a call to living a fuller and more authentic live. Whether in counseling, coaching, analysis or therapy, our collective philosophy is that working with the deeper aspects of self is an important part of living one’s life to the fullest and that this is primarily a matter of meaning, not of repairing disorders. At the same time, those of our professionals whose licensure includes providing treatment for mental disorders may offer an integrated approach to addressing the impact of such a disorder on more general questions of meaning and purpose.

How do I pay for a session?

Once you book your first paid session you will be offered payment options. Payments are accepted by credit card and are made through our secure payment partner. The first time you book a session with your selected professional you will be asked to put in your account details. Your card will be automatically charged once a session occurs and you will receive a receipt via email after the session.

What happens if I need to cancel a session?

You can always cancel a booked session in “My Stillpoint”. Cancellations made more than 24 hours prior to the session’s starting time receive a full refund. If you have to cancel less than 24 hours before your session, that session is non-refundable. We urge you to send a message explaining the reasons for the cancellation to your counselor and to schedule a new appointment. Please click here to view our refund and cancellation policy.

Technical check-list

Before getting started with your first online counseling session it’s important to make sure you meet our technical requirements. There are three things you need to secure before your first session.

  • Test your connection speed to see whether you have enough capacity for a high-quality video session. Your download rate should be at least 10mbit and upload 2mbit. You can test your connection speed here:
  • You need to use Google Chrome to access the actual video session. Download and install it here before your first session to be able to start a dialogue with your chosen counselor:
  • Make sure your webcam works in Google Chrome by visiting the test page below. A dialogue box should come up that asks to access your camera. Approve and if all works as it should you should see yourself in a window at the bottom of the page.

To think of the first time you log in for an online session

  • For your first session, be sure to log in 5-10 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • To access your session, go to “My Stillpoint” via the round button on the top right corner of the home page. Make sure you have first logged in at with your email and password.
  • In “My Stillpoint” on the “Dashboard”, you will find your booked session. Click the blue button to enter the session.
  • As you enter the session, Google Chrome might ask to use your web camera. Make sure to allow this. Below you can see a screenshot of where this dialogue box may come up.
  • If you cannot see your counselor it is because she or he has not yet joined the session. You can use the chat to send a message to the counselor.
  • In the top menu on the right hand side, you can also decide to go full-screen, adjust the volume, turn on your camera (if you prefer video) as well as exit your session.
  • When the session is finished you can agree with your counselor on a new time for a next session.

What happens I experience technical difficulties during a session?

Stillpoint lays out clear technical requirements and instructions to help insure a good experience with your counselor. Please be sure to read our technical check-list above before your first session so that you meet the needed technical standards. Some problems may exist that our out of our control, such as internet outage. Stillpoint has a clear refund policy in place for these types of problems.

Is Stillpoint Spaces secure?

A video connection through Stillpoint is safe and fully encrypted. Counselors, coaches, analysts and therapists working over Stillpoint maintain the highest degree of confidentiality with client information and only conduct sessions from private locations.
